Position Summary:

KemperLesnik is one of Chicago’s Best and Brightest Places to Work. This fast-paced agency is seeking to hire a key employee and leader to oversee a team of travel-focused public relations, social media and event professionals working with resorts, destinations, clubs and golf properties across the country as well as sponsors and brands in golf, basketball and other sports.

This new colleague should be capable of developing effective communications strategies while managing a large team, handling the details of many projects at once and delivering his/her own results. This person should be an organized, tenacious and self-directed professional with the ability to secure consistent high-level results in top tier media, lead digital communications programs and analyze/measure results/impact. She/he must be a talented people and client manager with strong writing, communications, and leadership skills. This person should be a storyteller with inherent curiosity.

  • Lead a team to create and execute award-winning PR programs for resort, consumer and sports clients
    • Manage and develop people to perform at the highest levels
    • Implement cutting-edge PR strategies, including:
      • Media relations
      • Content marketing
      • Social media (including paid strategies)
      • Influencer marketing (endorsement deals)
      • Email marketing
      • Sponsorship activation and partnership marketing
    • Be creative and capable of developing out-of-the-box yet relevant ideas
    • Be an execution expert – able to deploy a team effectively/efficiently and be a player/coach
    • Guide and teach team members to be the best PR practitioners in the business
  • Lead digital marketing initiatives, including:
    • SEO/SEM/PPC/Google Ads
    • Lead generation strategies (email marketing, social media)
    • Advertising
    • Web development
  • Demonstrate superior writing skills
    • Be adept at developing marketing and communications strategies that win
    • Be skilled at PR writing and editing
    • Be competent at teaching others to improve their writing skills
    • Be proficient writing in AP Style
  • Lead important client and partner relationships
    • Manage clients with superior service
    • Be a trusted advisor to clients by delivering sound guidance and counsel and by steering the agency team to deliver results that matter
  • Be the authority on client industries and businesses (resorts, destinations, hospitality, sponsorship activation)
  • Seek out, identify and secure growth opportunities with existing and new clients
    • Represent the KemperLesnik brand at industry events and among key client and agency partners to demonstrate industry expertise
    • Bring industry relationships to bear for the agency

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree in business, marketing communications or journalism preferred
  • 7 – 10 years of corporate and/or agency public relations experience
